Day One - Joshua

Today, we will share one of my kids’ favorite stories, Joshua. This is the “Little Bible Heroes Joshua” published by B&H Kids. What’s great about the B&H Kids books is that they often have a “Parent Connection” section. This was a nice surprise as it not only gave us some talking points with the kids to focus on the essence of the story of Joshua and how he diligently obeyed God even when it didn’t make sense to him, but it also gave the kids a good summary message to remember. This is a nice size book for little kids. The pictures are colorful and the words big. This book is ideal for babies and toddlers. It’s also less then $10.

Often, when you hear the story of Joshua, the focus is on Jericho and the spies. I like that this book also included when God parted the waters of the Jordan River so the Israelites could pass to get to Jericho. It reminded the kids of how God always provides when he sends you on his mission, and no obstacle is too impossible to cross, even a large river like the Jordan. It also paralleled when God parted the Red Sea, which we reminded our kids of as we read. It’s actually the second time God did the fantastic miracle of parting water for the Israelites!
